Evergreen Middle School PTSA and Studio East are excited to bring the modern musical adaptation of the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl.

Studio East provides costumes, sets, props, a Director, Music Director, and Choreographer...and your family provides the student actors and parent volunteers!

Studio East's ArtReach program is a 6-week long after-school theater program that can support up to 50 students, grades 6-8. It is a no-cut program. While all registered students are guaranteed a part in the show, students still need to audition to see where they might best fit into the cast. Parts include main roles, supporting roles, and the ensemble.

Description of Program-

This program is designed to cover a 6-week period, 4 days a week:

- Mandatory Parent Meeting via Zoom 2/4/25 @ 7pm
- Auditions: 2/10 & 2/11 @ 2:30-4pm (students attend in 45-minute segments)
- Callbacks: 2/18 @ 2:30-5:30pm
- Casting and Read Through: 2/20 from 2:30-5:30pm
- Regular Rehearsals at Evergreen Middle School: Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri, 2/21-3/14 @ 2:30-5:30pm (except no rehearsal on 2/28 due to school dance, and added a rehearsal + costume delivery/fitting on 3/5 @ 12:50-4pm)
- Mandatory Tech Rehearsals at RPAC at Redmond High School:

- Parents are responsible for transportation.

*Times are currently tentative. Tech rehearsals may begin closer to 4pm for 2024-2025.

Rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday after school @ 2:30-5:30 pm. There are no rehearsals on Wednesdays except for 3/5 @ 12:50-4pm. Conflicts are acceptable, except for Tech Week and Performances, but the more intense the conflicts, the less likely a student is to be considered for a large role.

Steps:

1. Review the calendar below and confirm that your student’s schedule will permit them to attend one day of auditions, call backs, and all mandatory tech rehearsals and performances. If they cannot attend these, please do not sign them up. For regular rehearsals, they will not need to attend every day. However, their availability may impact the size of the role they receive.

2. Register your student at Evergreen PTSA website no later than Sat Feb 8th by 8:00pm. You must be a PTSA member to register your student. It may take 24 hours for your registration to process so please register early.

3. Attend the mandatory parent meeting on Tues Feb 4th at 7:00pm via Zoom. This is parents only, no students. If you cannot attend, please email theater@evergreenptsa.org as you will need to meet with Kristilyn separately.

4. After parent meeting, complete additional Studio East registration (available at mandatory parent meeting) and sign up your student for an audition slot.

Registration Fee

Registration fees is expected be $200 per student to cover Studio East's and RHS's fees. PTSA scholarships are available. Please see your school counselor for information.

Volunteering

All parents are expected to chaperone a minimum of 2 rehearsals each. If you are unable to do so, you’ll need to find someone to cover for you. Chaperones need to be both LWSD approved volunteers and PTSA members. Please reach out to membership@evergreenptsa.org if you need support with PTSA membership fees. This is a requirement of our liability insurance. In addition to chaperoning rehearsals, parents need to serve on a committee. The committees (subject to change), are as follows:
