Transportation & Maps
District provided transportation
The Lake Washington School District provides transportation services to students who live outside a one-mile radius from their school of residence. However, if the district has assessed the walk routes and found no safe paths within that one-mile radius, exceptions may be made.
Within a school’s boundary: Middle can walk up to two miles.
Bus route information is available in your family’s Skyward Family Access account.
To find out if your student is eligible to ride the bus, use the School & Bus Finder website.
Drop-off Instructions
General Tips:
- Consider arriving a few minutes earlier. Traffic is much lighter before 7:40 am.
- If your student is eligible to ride the bus, please have them do so. Buses are a great way to save everyone's time and are better for the environment.
- Consider carpooling if possible.
- Make sure your student is prepared and ready to exit your vehicle quickly on the passenger side.*
- Please AVOID dropping off students in the Dickinson Elementary driveway. This blocks buses and Dickinson staff and could place your student at risk.
- Thank you for DRIVING SLOWLY to keep everyone safe!
Dropping Off Your Student

NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC (from Sammamish/202):
- Turn into the EMS driveway using the right-hand lane, marked in blue. If traffic is backed up behind you, please take advantage of the lower lot using the left-hand lane, marked in purple (see below for instructions). There is usually no waiting in the lower lot!
- Please ALTERNATE with vehicles coming from the north, taking turns.
- Please DO NOT BLOCK the bend/access to the tennis court and upper lot, marked in yellow. Stopping here makes it difficult for vehicles in the left lane to turn into the lower lot.
- Pull as far forward as possible along the main curb between the green arrows before letting your student out. Narrowing the gap in front of your vehicle allows more cars to access the curb.
- Have your student quickly exit the vehicle on the passenger’s side onto the sidewalk.*
- As you move toward the exit, please allow vehicles exiting from the lower lots to merge.
SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC (from the Union Hill Road direction):
- As you approach the EMS exit driveway on 208th, please kindly allow an exiting vehicle or two to merge onto 208th in front of you. If cars cannot get out, other cars cannot get in!
- Turn into the EMS driveway using the left-hand lane, marked in purple. If traffic is clear, you may use the right-hand lane for the upper drop-off line (see above for instructions). If traffic is backed up, DO NOT BLOCK TRAFFIC behind you by waiting to turn into the right-hand lane of the driveway.
- At the bend, turn left toward the lower parking lot. Where the lot divides into two lanes, use either lane.
- Once you reach either of the two locations marked with green arrows, have your child quickly exit the vehicle on the passenger side*. Students should use the walkway to the crosswalk by the main entrance.
- DO NOT BLOCK the crosswalk after the speed bump, marked in yellow, as students may be crossing here.
- Please use caution as you turn from the lower lot into the exit driveway.
*If your student needs assistance or extra time, please park your vehicle in the lower lots instead of blocking traffic. Thank you for your cooperation!
