How Science Team Works

Evergreen Middle School provides students access to science competitions. These competitions are coached and driven by parent volunteers. Evergreen PTSA supports these competitions by coordinating teams and providing space to practice for the competitions.

National Science Bowl (NSB)

The National Science Bowl (NSB) is a high school and middle school science knowledge competition using a quiz bowl format held in the United States. A buzzer system like those seen on popular television game shows is used to signal an answer. NSB teams are formed through rank testing. Students take exams in different subject areas. The top students from each subject are then selected for positions on the teams. If throughout the year a student drops from a team, the next ranked student will be offered their position.

Teams will be formed prior to October 20th based on Written & Oral qualifier results. A team consists of 4- 5 students from a single school. Only 4 students play at any one time, while the 5th is designated as the alternate.
