All current 7th grade students who will remain at Evergreen next year as 8th graders are invited to apply and run for Evergreen’s ASB Executive Board for the 2019-2020 school year.  *Students attending Timberline will have separate elections run by Sally Rusk, Timberline Activities Coordinator and ASB Advisor.  We do not have information about Timberline elections at this time.  This info is strictly for 7th grade students attending EMS next year.

There was an informational meeting last Thursday, February 21st that interested students should have attended during FLEX with Ms. Miller.  Students who missed the informational meeting should see Ms. Miller in room 141 to get the information they missed.

In order for students to run for ASB Office they must: be in 7th grade this year, plan on attending EMS next year as an 8th grader, be an ASB member, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2, and fill out an application packet (that includes 2 Teacher Rating Forms).  Application packets are not available online.  Interested students must pick them up in person.  Packets are available on Ms. Nilsen’s desk in the main office. All application packets are due no later than 2:45pm on Friday, March 1st.  Students can turn in their completed packets to Ms. Miller in room 141, or to Ms. Nilsen (she will have a basket on her desk) in the main office.  This deadline is firm.  Applications turned in after 2:45pm on Friday, March 1st, will NOT be accepted.  Students on ASB Board are expected to meet deadlines on a regular basis. This is the applicants’ first opportunity to show they are able to meet deadlines, be proactive, communicate with teachers and staff, and problem solve.

All students who apply and meet the eligibility requirements will be notified by Thursday, March 7th. Eligible candidates will be required to attend a mandatory FLEX meeting on Thursday, March 7th, about election rules and procedures.  No campaigning should begin until AFTER students are notified of their eligibility and have attended the mandatory FLEX meeting on Thursday, March 7th with Ms. Miller.

If students have questions about ASB, elections, running for office, or election application packets, they can email Trish Miller, ASB Advisor, at trimiller@lwsd.org.
