Every morning, 300 cars travel to and from our school to drop off students.
Put these end-to-end and it's a line stretching over a mile. EMS was never designed for this kind of traffic, and it's evident in the backed up roads, the slow crawl in the parking lots, the close calls with student safety, and the high blood pressure of our school admin team.
Starting after Spring Break, we're asking you to ask yourself … can I skip this solo car trip? Can we use the yellow school buses, carpools, walking, and biking to school whenever possible?
We're serious about this, and we need everyone's input!

Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner! Celebrate your favorite teachers and staff by making a donation to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation.
For a small contribution, you can recognize teachers and staff on LWSF’s Wall of Appreciation, send them a heartfelt postcard, or gift them a special enamel pin.
Your contribution not only supports the Foundation's important initiatives but also brings joy to our dedicated staff members. Act now—place your orders by May 3 at www.lwsf.org/staff-
Apply to be a volunteer at Evergreen Middle School, or renew your volunteer approval status today! Whether you plan to volunteer with EMS PTSA or as a general school volunteer, your approval within Lake Washington School District (LWSD) must be renewed every two years.
LWSD requires that all volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (both doses of a two-dose series or one dose of a single-dose vaccine), or request exemption. Visit LWSD's website for more information. Apply or Renew Now!
The Evergreen PTSA is looking for volunteers to help us to recognize some of the many outstanding staff and volunteers at our school. Responsibilities include: reviewing award submissions, choosing recipients for each category, purchasing awards, and helping to plan the Volunteer Appreciation Award Reception on June 14th. If you are interested, sign up here! Questions? Email amy@evergreenptsa.org.
Do you have a student who enjoys volunteering or is passionate about helping others? The PTSA is excited to be able to provide EMS students the opportunity to earn the Presidential Service Award again this year.
This award is student led and any EMS student who documents a minimum of 50 volunteer hours between June 2023 and May 10, 2024, can receive this award.* For more information about the award, how to document volunteer hours, and what counts as volunteering, please visit our Presidential Service Award page.
*May 10th is the EMS deadline for application cover sheet and submission of hours.
Our school is looking for volunteers to help our hardworking lunch staff. Volunteers would serve food to students and ensure that they are recycling and composting responsibly. This is a great opportunity for parents who want to volunteer in the school. You can volunteer once or on a regular basis!
The Fundraiser is still open, so if you have not yet had a chance to donate, we would really appreciate it.
The majority of PTSA donations go to support school, student and family engagement, which includes things like classroom grants, teacher stipends (for Eagle Time Planning), scholarships/InvestEd, student planners, WEB leadership, Emergency Prep, Family and Community Engagement, 8th Grade Celebration, advocacy and so much more!
